BHI Expands North American Liquefied Natural Gas Market Through Local U.S. Corporation

BHI announced on the 21st that it is strengthening its North American sales activities centered on its US local corporation, BHI-FW. With the scale of investment in liquefied natural gas (LNG) power generation infrastructure continuing to expand worldwide, the LNG market in the US is expected to grow rapidly with the change of government, and so it is moving to expand its presence.

BHI-FW originated from the American global engineering company Foster Wheeler. In 2017, BHI acquired Foster Wheeler’s boiler business division from the British multinational company AMEC PLC, and it became a subsidiary of BHI.

In 2020, the company secured the source technology for combined cycle heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) from Foster Wheeler, laying the foundation for a leading role in the global LNG power generation market. With this achievement, BHI has grown into a leading company exporting HRSGs to Korea, Japan, the Middle East, the United States, and other countries around the world.

Based on its local expertise, BHI plans to actively pursue new projects in line with the expansion of the LNG power generation market in the U.S. In particular, BHI expects to further strengthen its competitiveness in the market as it already has successful experience in supplying LNG power generation infrastructure in the U.S.

In 2014, BHI successfully supplied two 380MW combined cycle power plant HRSGs to Calpine, a local natural gas power plant and geothermal power plant operator.

A BHI official said, “We have been continuously expanding opportunities in the North American LNG market centered around our local U.S. corporation BHI-FW,” and “We will continue to maximize order momentum through various channels in line with changes in the U.S. power generation market and steadily strengthen our global market competitiveness.”

BHI plans to actively utilize local corporations to discover new business opportunities in line with the global LNG plant investment expansion trend. Through this, it plans to further solidify its position in the power generation market as a global top-tier leading company in the HRSG sector.
