Cohesity, a leading AI-based data security company, announced today that it has added Dave DeWalt and Lt. Gen. HR McMaster (Ret.) to Cohesity’s Security Advisory Council, with DeWalt serving as Chair of the Council. Data security is increasingly a matter of national security, and protecting sensitive data is critical to the security of our entire nation. With the support of the Advisory Council, Cohesity will continue to advise customers around the world on how to secure their data from cyberattacks.
The Cohesity Security Advisory Board is comprised of industry-leading experts with expertise in security, technology, and IT from a variety of companies and government agencies, including Netflix, Facebook, the National Security Agency (NSA), Microsoft, Accenture, and Deloitte. The new hires include former intelligence-based security firm FireEye, information security firm McAfee, and former members of the Office of the President. The addition of DeWalt and McMaster demonstrates Cohesity’s commitment to data security, national security, and cyber resilience.
Dave DeWalt, the new Security Advisory Board Chairman, is a veteran CEO, advisor and investor. He is the founder and CEO of NightDragon, an investment and advisory firm focused on the cyber, safety, security and privacy markets. He is also the former CEO of FireEye and McAfee, bringing with him extensive experience in the information technology and security industries.
Lieutenant General HR McMaster served 34 years in the Army Reserve and served as the 25th National Security Advisor of the United States. He is currently the Fouad and Michelle Ajami Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, the Bernard and Susanne Liato Visiting Scholar at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, and a lecturer in business administration at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
“Today’s enterprises face an unprecedented and deepening global security crisis. With AI impacting both physical and digital infrastructure in ways previously thought impossible, operational and cyber resilience is more critical to national security than ever before,” said Dave DeWalt, cybersecurity investor and CEO and founder of Knightdragon. “With over 12,000 customers globally, Cohesity plays a critical role in protecting our nation by protecting business-critical data and enabling it to recover faster than anyone else in the industry. I am delighted to join the Security Advisory Council to help drive national security resilience against unprecedented threats.”
“Data security is the foundation of our national security. Serious ransomware attacks and cyber-espionage attacks that threaten critical infrastructure, business operations, and personal safety continue to occur every day,” said Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General HR McMaster. “The work Cohesity does to protect businesses and critical data from constantly evolving threats directly contributes to the safety and prosperity of our nation. I am excited to join the team as a member of the Security Advisory Board.”
With the addition of new Advisory Board members, the Security Advisory Board will continue to advise the Cohesity team, customers, and partners on security trends and emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and will work with a group of industry experts and the broader technology ecosystem to help prevent the impact of cyber attacks.
“The expansion of Cohesity’s Security Advisory Board is a testament to our commitment to our customers and our continued growth through partnerships with global innovators and leaders,” said Sanjay Poonen, CEO of Cohesity. “Our top priority is helping customers around the world build cyber resilience and secure their data, and with the integration of Veritas’ data protection business in December, Cohesity is doing so at a much larger scale than ever before.
