Solbrain Holdings and China's DFD Establish S6F New Energy

On the 10th, Solbrain Holdings announced the establishment of a joint venture (JV) called "S6F New Energy (S6F)" with HFR NEW ENERGY PTE LTD, a subsidiary of China's DFD. This joint venture plans to build a lithium salt (LiFP6) production plant in Korea for secondary battery electrolyte manufacturing. Through this, Solbrain Holdings plans to independently produce the key raw materials for electrolyte production, which previously had been procured through domestic and foreign partners.

DFD is a leading company in LiFP6 manufacturing, demonstrating its strengths in areas requiring advanced technologies for mass production. Through this joint venture, Solbrain Holdings is expected to benefit from changes in the supply chain resulting from the US government's policy of containing China.

Furthermore, direct production of LiFP6 is expected to result in cost savings. Through collaboration with DFD, the company plans to leverage advanced mass production technology and secure competitiveness in electrolyte production based on this technology.

Meanwhile, Solbrain Holdings is also focusing on expanding the electrolyte production capacity of its US subsidiary, SolbrainMI. Following the completion of its first plant in Michigan, the company will build a second plant with a capacity of 75,000 tons in Kokomo, Indiana, in June 2024. This will ensure a stable supply of electrolyte to major secondary battery manufacturers, and Solbrain plans to expand its supply volumes by efficiently expanding production capacity at its existing plant.
