SDX Foundation Holds Workshop on Jeju Green Tech Design

The SDX Foundation , together with officials from Jeju Island and the Jeju Carbon Neutrality Support Center and climate tech companies, held a strategy workshop for 'Jeju-style Carbon Neutrality Leading City Strategy and Climate Tech Expansion' at the Pangyo Startup Campus for two days from the 6th to the 7th.

This workshop was held as part of a business agreement signed on October 30th of last year between the SDX Foundation, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and climate tech companies to achieve the "2035 Carbon Neutrality Goal." Around 50 representatives and related personnel from 30 climate tech companies attended the workshop and engaged in in-depth discussions on collaborative measures to achieve Jeju Island's carbon neutrality goal.

At this event, Jeju Province explained its plans for the Jeju Carbon Neutral Leading City Development Project to climate tech industry representatives and announced plans to develop a carbon neutrality implementation roadmap in which climate tech companies can participate. Lim Hong-cheol, head of the Environmental Policy Division who attended the workshop, stated, “Jeju aims to become a central city for expanding the role of climate tech companies and practicing carbon neutrality.” He added that the provincial government plans to reflect the outcomes of this strategic workshop in improving its carbon neutrality policy and commercialization plans.

The SDX Foundation has decided to actively cooperate to foster Jeju Island as a climate tech hub, and plans to actively support climate tech companies to demonstrate and expand carbon reduction technologies and business models in Jeju through the Jeju MCP (Mini Carbon Project). The SDX Foundation evaluated this workshop as an important first step toward the successful promotion of the Jeju MCP and the creation of a climate tech ecosystem. Furthermore, the SDX Foundation stated that it will do its utmost to foster Jeju Island as a representative climate tech hub in Asia by working closely with Jeju Island and climate tech companies and to contribute to the achievement of South Korea's carbon neutrality goal.
