The Onion announced on the 7th that it was selected for TIPS, a technology startup support program of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, upon the recommendation of New Paradigm Investment, the operator of TIPS.
The TIPS program is a collaborative effort between the private and public sectors to discover and nurture startups with exceptional technologies. Through this selection, Dearion has secured 500 million won in R&D funding over the next two years. Additionally, it will be eligible for up to 700 million won in support, including 100 million won in commercialization funding and 100 million won in overseas marketing.
Dear Onion's TIPS project is to build an "AI-based integrated purchasing solution to improve the efficiency of the fresh food supply chain." Key initiatives include: building a vertical AI agent for fresh food; developing a price volatility analysis and visualization system; and developing a joint purchasing system for fresh food producers based on the purchasing needs of restaurant owners.
Dear Onion CEO Choi Jong-seok said, “We are delighted to have our technological prowess recognized through this TIPS selection. We aim to expand our business beyond Seoul and the metropolitan area into the global market, achieving annual sales of 70 billion won by 2028, and by 2030, entering overseas markets such as Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan, reaching annual sales of 220 billion won.” He continued, “Based on AI technology, we will enhance our Parado and Boydo services and grow into a K-food platform that connects domestic fresh foods with overseas buyers.”
CEO Choi said, “We plan to provide everything restaurant operators need on a single platform, including fresh food purchase price monitoring, purchasing timing decision support, overseas sales channel connections, and SaaS service provision.” He added, “Through this, we hope to help restaurant operators generate revenue and grow, and further contribute to the development of the domestic fresh food market.”
