Care robot specialist MisterMind Co., Ltd. has been selected for the '2024 18th Second Half Republic of Korea Excellent Patent Award' presented by the Hankook Ilbo.
This award recognizes outstanding Korean patented companies and promotes their innovative technologies. Mr. Mind is particularly recognized for its work in the field of AI-based care robots. This award serves as a significant recognition of technological innovation and social contribution, once again highlighting Mr. Mind's technological prowess.
In 2017, Mr. Mind's founder was showing off his talking robot toy, Pororot, to his mother. He witnessed his mother say "I'm sick," something she hadn't said in 45 years. This sparked his desire to develop a talking care robot that could serve as a companion to the elderly.
Mr. Mind's patents are based on the technology used in its care robots, preventing competitors from copying them. Specifically, by subdividing the technology into multiple patents, the company is adopting a strategy of maximizing the protection of patents from potential patent infringements by later entrants. These patents protect Mr. Mind's proprietary technology when large corporations or newcomers launch products and services, and provide its developers with a sense of pride and empowerment to focus on technological development.
Mr. Mind's care robot has the following features:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology: Equipped with vivid AI technologies such as ChatGPT, it not only serves as a simple conversational companion, but also provides various functions such as alarms, song playback, cognitive cards, and dementia prevention exercises, helping in various ways in daily life.
- User-Friendly UI/UX: Designed with the needs of seniors in mind, the app is simple and easy to use. To communicate, press a button to speak, and to play content, press a button and insert a play card.
- Provides emotional stability: Instead of using hard materials, it is made in the form of a stuffed animal to provide emotional stability to the elderly.
- Continuous Usability: Through many years of usability, it is continuously used by seniors, and the number of local governments introducing it is increasing.
Founder Kim Dong-won stated, "The introduction of care robots has enabled remote care, contributing to addressing gaps and blind spots in care. We aim to build an advanced welfare system that can manage a large number of seniors on a low budget through data-driven care, and to develop artificial intelligence that can predict dementia."
Within the next five years, MisterMind plans to develop algorithms to predict dementia, depression, insomnia, and suicide by analyzing conversations with elderly individuals with abnormal symptoms collected through care robots. Furthermore, the company aims to participate in CES in 2025, publish a paper in an international academic journal in 2026, and enter the global market and be listed on KOSDAQ in 2027.
Mr. Mind holds a unique position in the care robot market based on innovative technology and patents, and aims for continued development and social contribution. These efforts will greatly contribute to improving the quality of life for seniors.
