Kibo Signs Business Agreement with Shinhan Bank

The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "KIBO") announced on the 3rd that it has signed a business agreement with Shinhan Bank to provide financial support to promote the commercialization of data and intellectual property (IP) of small and medium-sized venture companies.

This agreement combines Kibo's intellectual property (IP) valuation capabilities with Shinhan Bank's valuation fee support and preferential interest rates to support the smooth commercialization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and venture companies possessing superior data and IP previously overlooked by the existing financial system. Under the agreement, Kibo will utilize technology valuation, data valuation, and its AI-based patent appraisal system (Kibo Patent Appraisal System, "KPAS") to assess the value of companies' IP. Furthermore, Kibo will provide preferential support, including guarantee ratios and guarantee fees, in conjunction with guarantees.

In 2006, KIBO became the first company in Korea to introduce IP guarantees, a technology value assessment system, and has provided approximately KRW 5 trillion in IP guarantees by the end of 2024. Since 2019, KIBO has been fully utilizing KPAS for IP guarantees, continuously expanding rapid and low-cost IP financing. Furthermore, KIBO was designated as a data valuation agency by the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2023. Through the launch of specialized guarantee products and advancement of the evaluation system for data companies, KIBO is fostering an intellectual property-centered industrial ecosystem and supporting the innovative growth of SMEs and venture companies.

Kim Jong-ho, Chairman of Kibo, said, “Kibo is expanding customized support by discovering the potential value of intellectual property, such as data, held by small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies,” and “We will continue to strengthen collaboration with related organizations and actively support our companies so that they can become competitive in the global market and achieve sustainable growth.”
