Green Plus Signs 4.5 Billion Won Youth Smart Farm Contract

Green Plus , a smart farm specialist, announced on the 3rd that it had signed two youth smart farm contracts worth approximately 4.5 billion won.

Under this smart farm contract, a state-of-the-art greenhouse smart farm will be built on a 1,656-pyeong (5,000 sq ft) farm in Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, to grow cucumbers, and a 3,262-pyeong (10,000 sq ft) farm in Naju, Jeollanam-do, to grow cherry tomatoes. The contract amounts are KRW 1.5 billion (approximately $1.5 million) and KRW 3 billion (approximately $3.0 million), for a total of KRW 4.5 billion. Green Plus will design the smart farm based on analysis of crop characteristics, local climate, and client needs, and will carry out construction using materials manufactured in-house through domestic production processes.

Notably, the parties to this contract are graduates of the Sangju and Goheung Smart Farm Innovation Valleys, respectively, and are young farmers poised to lead the smart farm industry. Green Plus oversaw the Sangju Smart Farm Innovation Valley project from design to construction, creating a virtuous cycle in which young farmers who complete the training choose Green Plus' smart farms.

Green Plus provides smart farm technology and equipment for entrepreneurship and successful agricultural management, helping Innovation Valley graduates establish themselves as key players in the smart farm industry. This is a meaningful example that goes beyond mere technical support, further solidifying Green Plus's role as a company that provides a stable agricultural foundation for young people with limited agricultural experience.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, starting this year, they are expanding various support measures to encourage young people to start agricultural businesses. Along with expanding agricultural settlement subsidies and easing income requirements, policies will be implemented to provide the foundation necessary for starting a business. Furthermore, various facilities supporting youth entrepreneurship and research, such as the Smart Farm Innovation Valley Demonstration Complex, the Green Bio Venture Campus, and the Food Tech Research Support Center, are actively helping young people enter the agricultural sector.

Green Plus CEO Jeong Sun-tae said, “We are expanding the smart farm development project, which has been focused on the public sector, into the private sector,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen our support so that young farmers, such as the graduates of the Smart Farm Innovation Valley, can establish a stable income base and lead the smart farm industry.”
