MegaZone Cloud, a leading cloud company, has appointed former Amazon headquarters executive Dong-Hoon Yeom as its new CEO.
As CEO of Megazone Cloud, Dong-Hoon Yeom will oversee all business operations and drive global growth with a broad perspective. He will also oversee business expansion through partnerships with CSPs and ISVs, as well as strategic investments from a global perspective. Furthermore, he plans to actively expand new businesses based on generative AI services to spearhead the proliferation of AI, which is attracting attention as a new growth engine.
MegaZone Cloud founder and CEO Lee Ju-wan will serve as Chairman of the Board. Drawing on his accumulated experience, he will focus on IPO preparations, exploring new business areas, formulating future strategies, and identifying investment opportunities. Hwang In-cheol, previously leading the AWS business unit, will assume the role of Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). He will be responsible for the sales of domestic and overseas businesses. He will focus on fostering business growth and fostering an agile and proactive organizational culture to enhance customer satisfaction.
CEO Yeom is recognized as a forward-thinking technology industry leader, having spearheaded digital innovation and strategic partnership development with nearly 30 years of experience at global companies such as Amazon and Google. While leading the AWS Global Partner Organization, he oversaw a team overseeing a global ecosystem of over 100,000 partners, including global systems integrators like Accenture and Deloitte, and innovative software companies like Snowflake and Databricks, more than doubling partner-contributed revenue.
Prior to that, while serving as CEO of AWS Korea, he led the establishment of a data center in Korea ahead of established markets in countries like India, the UK, and France. This strategic approach helped AWS Korea grow into a leading player in the domestic enterprise cloud services market, securing a dominant market share during CEO Yeom's tenure.
Mr. Yeom, who majored in electrical engineering and computer science at MIT, also has entrepreneurial experience as the CEO of a digital consulting and development services company.
With the addition of CEO Dong-Hoon Yeom, who possesses a proven track record of building high-performance organizations through rational leadership grounded in a deep understanding of global culture, MegaZone Cloud plans to accelerate its approach to value-based management and foster innovation through collaborative partnerships.
Chairman Lee Ju-wan said, “Building on our growth to date, MegaZone Cloud is facing a new challenge. I believe that CEO Yeom, with his extensive experience and proven capabilities, will be a great asset to us as we join.” He added, “I expect him to play a significant role in our global business expansion, entry into new markets, and the advancement of our existing business.”
CEO Yeom Dong-hoon said, “I am deeply impressed by the achievements that Chairman Lee Joo-wan and the management team have made together with their 2,800 excellent employees. It is a great honor to be able to join this journey to seize new opportunities and turn them into results ahead of the rapidly changing market trends, based on the best cloud expertise and partner ecosystem.”
CEO Yeom also said, “We will work to further expand the various businesses MegaZone Cloud has built into the global market, while also making efforts to adapt our work system and culture accordingly.”
MegaZone Cloud and its affiliates, with over 2,800 cloud experts, have become the first unicorn company in the domestic cloud MSP industry, achieving KRW 1.5106 trillion in sales by 2023. In addition to Korea, the company also operates local subsidiaries in eight countries: the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia, Shanghai and Beijing in China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
