Dassault Systèmes, the AI virtual twin company, announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Busan Human Resources Development Center of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry to foster key talent for the next-generation shipbuilding industry. This collaboration aims to systematically cultivate specialized talent to strengthen the future competitiveness of the Korean shipbuilding industry.
This MOU focuses on building a next-generation shipbuilding industry workforce development ecosystem and strengthening digital capabilities across the industry. Specifically, it plans to implement a phased training program for developers and practitioners in CAD, PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), and DM (Digital Manufacturing). This will establish a collaborative system that combines the Busan Human Resources Development Center's training capabilities with Dassault Systèmes' global experience in the digital shipbuilding industry.
Dassault Systèmes defines the scope of digital solutions for the shipbuilding and marine industries, and is responsible for instructor training, technology and software support, and global case studies. The Busan Human Resources Development Center oversees curriculum development and operation, integration with the government's job competency development system, educational infrastructure support, and quality and performance management systems.
Ryu Hyeong-ju, director of the Busan Human Resources Development Institute, said, “Through our collaboration with Dassault Systèmes, we will be able to systematically cultivate specialized personnel who will lead the digital transformation of the domestic shipbuilding industry,” adding, “This will also contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the local industry.”
“This agreement supports digital transformation in the highly competitive shipbuilding industry and is significant in enhancing Korea’s future competitiveness,” said Jeong Woon-seong, CEO of Dassault Systèmes Korea. “We will participate in training specialized personnel who will lead the next-generation shipbuilding industry based on virtual twin-based solutions and global cases.”
