Moon Academy (Co-CEOs Moon Hyun-woo and Kim Gyeong-rok), which operates the running-based travel platform CLTOO, announced that it received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award in the Growth Tourism Venture (Qualification Maintenance) category at the 2025 Tourism Venture Day held on December 23.
Tourism Venture Day, co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, recognizes and awards companies that have achieved innovative results across the tourism industry throughout the year. Moon Academy operates Kl2, a platform that integrates running lessons and event information, focusing on run tours. It has developed a differentiated business model in the running tourism sector.
Kl2 has demonstrated its potential for global expansion by being selected as the international travel agency partner for the Sydney Marathon, one of the world's seven major marathons. Building on this achievement, Kl2 will expand its overseas running tour products linked to major marathons throughout 2025, solidifying its position in the global sports tourism market.
For domestic runners hoping to participate in international marathons, we launched a package program combining airfare, lodging, and race participation, transforming the previously individual-booking market into a formalized tourism product. We also operated brand booths at overseas marathon expos and global running events, and promoted Korean running tourism content to international runners and travel agencies.
This expansion, centered on overseas running tours, has led to increased sales and investment. Moon Academy has established a stable revenue structure based on a portfolio of running tours encompassing both overseas and local markets. Furthermore, it attracted strategic investment from Hana Tour, demonstrating its growth potential as a global tourism operator.
In Korea, we leveraged our experience operating overseas running tours to launch local run trip programs in collaboration with local governments and public institutions, contributing to the advancement of local tourism content. This structure, bridging the global and local landscape, has been evaluated as demonstrating the scalability of running tourism.
Moon Academy plans to expand its overseas running tour lineup and strengthen its competitiveness in the running tourism sector by developing inbound tourism products linked to global running events.
