Gangnam-gu (Mayor Cho Seong-myeong) is expanding its AI care robot distribution project to prevent deaths from loneliness and provide emotional stability to seniors living alone in an aging society. Mr. Mind, an AI startup that played a key role in this project, received a plaque of appreciation from the Gangnam-gu Council in recognition of its contributions.
Gangnam-gu is expanding its AI care devices for seniors living alone to a total of 1,240 this year, addressing the blind spots in welfare services. Among these devices, the most popular among seniors is MisterMind's AI robot, "Chorongi." "Chorongi," newly introduced this year, meets existing demand and offers a variety of functions as a companion robot powered by ChatGPT-4o-based generative AI technology.
Key features include emergency call response, proactive emotional conversation, real-time detection of danger signs, and personalized health management. The MisterMind control center monitors and responds to emergency calls 24/7. In August and October of this year, the app rescued two elderly people in Daejeon in the wee hours of the morning. Furthermore, it attempts to communicate with the elderly person without first speaking, checking in on them and alerting them to negative words. It also features a dementia prevention quiz and medication reminders.
On December 18th, the Gangnam District Council (Chairman Lee Ho-gwi) presented a plaque of appreciation to Mr. Mind CEO Song Won-joong. The council stated that it highly recognized CEO Song's contributions to society and community development through AI technology. CEO Song stated, "In line with the implementation of the nationwide integrated care system in 2026, 'Chorongi' will fulfill its role in ensuring that seniors experience happiness at least once a day."
Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Seong-myeong stated, "Smart technology is providing practical assistance in helping seniors lead healthy lives. We will actively introduce smart technologies, such as AI care robots, to the welfare sector to improve the quality of life for residents." Gangnam-gu is currently building a robust care system utilizing five smart devices, including "Chorongi," a companion robot, and a smart medicine cabinet called "My Medicine Secretary."
