
The Korea Artificial Intelligence and Software Industry Association (Chairman Cho Jun-hee, hereinafter KOSA) announced on January 6 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Iron and Steel Association (Chairman Jang In-hwa) at the Korea Iron and Steel Association conference room in Songpa-gu, Seoul, to foster an AI autonomous manufacturing ecosystem and convergence talent development in the steel industry.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials from both organizations, including KOSA Executive Vice President Seong-il Seo and Korea Iron and Steel Association Executive Vice President Gyeong-ho Lee.
Through this agreement, the two organizations will pursue collaborative projects to accelerate digital innovation in the steel industry. Key areas of collaboration include jointly developing a training program for AI professionals specializing in steel, establishing guidelines for standardizing steel data, supporting government-led AI infrastructure utilization, and providing AI adoption consulting and voucher programs for small and medium-sized steel companies.
Additionally, the two organizations plan to establish a so-called Steel AI Autonomous Manufacturing Expansion Committee in the future and gradually implement specific implementation tasks, including policy proposals, talent development, and technology verification.
Through this agreement, KOSA plans to develop and distribute AI solutions specialized for the steel manufacturing process and establish an industrial-focused AI talent training system to support the strengthening of the competitiveness of the domestic manufacturing industry.
