Investment accelerator CNT Tech announced that it has invested in Anew Production, the company behind the family musical "Doctor Dolittle," which incorporates XR and virtual technologies. The investment was made through the Dongguk University Technology Holdings-CNT Tech 1st Private Investment Association, and the amount was not disclosed.
Anew Production is preparing to produce a virtual family musical, "Doctor Dolittle," utilizing an LED backwall and XR volume stage. The show aims to reduce the burden of physical set construction and create a performance format that flexibly accommodates a variety of spaces through immersive production that combines real-world performances with virtual environments.
This production utilizes AI voice synthesis and emotion recognition technology, enabling real-time interaction between actors and virtual characters. Character responses are adjusted in real time based on the performance situation and emotional changes, and real-time rendering-based control is expected to enhance immersion and directorial freedom.
Anew Production has established a business structure that minimizes copyright royalties by utilizing original works in the public domain. This will allow it to expand the number of performances and reduce the cost of overseas re-performances. Furthermore, by introducing virtual characters, it will reduce personnel costs and mitigate legal risks during global expansion.
Additionally, we are pursuing overseas market expansion through an export model that combines XR and virtual technology packages and licenses. This model enables the implementation of LED and XR-based stages without the need for physical stage transport, reducing infrastructure differences across countries and providing a structure that allows the reproduction of the same content across multiple regions.
A CNT Tech official said, “Anew Production’s ‘Doctor Dolittle’ is a next-generation family musical model that combines cost efficiency and global scalability based on XR technology,” and “We judged that it has high investment value because it has a clear business structure that combines performance IP and technology standardization.”
