Global transportation solutions specialist Estrafic announced on the 9th that it had won a contract to build an AI-based intelligent transportation system remote maintenance management system commissioned by Korea Expressway Corporation.
This project focuses on building a smart management system that leverages AI technology to enhance the efficiency and stability of transportation infrastructure maintenance. As transportation infrastructure grows in size and complexity, this system is being evaluated as an alternative that can complement the limitations of existing on-site inspection methods.
Through this project, Estrafic plans to build a web-based remote management platform, enabling real-time monitoring of traffic equipment operations. The introduction of remote control capabilities is expected to enable controller resets and power supply control, reducing response times in the event of a failure and improving equipment availability. Furthermore, the company plans to strengthen its preventative maintenance system by applying AI performance diagnostic technology to predict equipment failures and analyze remaining service life.
Estraffic has extensive experience in implementing ITS both domestically and internationally. It has implemented station automation systems in Washington, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, and has also participated in ITS implementation projects in several countries, including Bangladesh, Colombia, and El Salvador.
Through this collaboration with Korea Expressway Corporation, the company plans to expand innovations in the transportation and infrastructure sectors by incorporating AI technology, and explore new business opportunities such as autonomous driving infrastructure, smart highways, and overseas ITS exports.
An Estrafik representative stated that AI-based ITS is evolving into a platform capable of data-based prediction and analysis, and that this project will serve as a stepping stone for global business expansion while strengthening its position in the domestic market.
