Gabler announced that it will officially participate in the Peruvian Navy's next-generation submarine development program being promoted by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, and will strengthen the global naval shipbuilding cooperation system.
Gabler Korea signed the first agreement related to the bi-mast and steering mechanism for submarines at the signing ceremony for the agreement on the development of bi-mast and steering mechanism technology for submarines held at the headquarters of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan on the 8th.
The two-mast system, mounted on a submarine's sail, is a key piece of equipment that raises and lowers various sensors and communication/observation antennas above the waterline. Considering the underwater operating environment, high durability, low noise, and low vibration are required. Gabler's two-mast system, built on its stability and reliability, has secured its competitiveness in the global market.
This agreement was pursued as part of the expansion of defense cooperation between Korea and Peru and the follow-up implementation phase of the APEC 2025 meeting. It is an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries in 2024, the agreement signed at SITDEF, and the basic design contract for joint submarine development. The goal of the agreement is to complete the basic design of the lifting mast and rudder motor systems, key hydraulic and mechanical systems for the development of a new diesel-electric submarine platform currently being pursued by the Peruvian Navy.
Founded in 1962 by German submarine design expert Professor Ulrich Gabler, Gabler is an underwater defense and ocean technology company. Building on over 60 years of accumulated technological expertise, it has earned a reputation as a trusted global player. Currently, the navies of 26 countries, including Korea, Germany, and Peru, operate Gabler's submarine systems.
In response to growing defense demand in the Asia-Pacific region and expanding global shipbuilding technology cooperation, the company established Gabler Korea in Busan in January 2024. Through this, the company is expanding its participation in the domestic defense ecosystem and strengthening technological collaboration for close military supply support and overseas market expansion.
