Save the Children Eastern Regional Headquarters (Director Jang Seong-jun) announced that it signed a business agreement with the Daegu Metropolitan City Social Welfare Center Association for the 'First Step Support Project for Crisis Pregnant Women and Child Rearing.'
This agreement aims to establish a professional and sustainable support system from the early stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, so that families with at-risk pregnant women who face economic, psychological, and emotional challenges during pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare can safely be protected and achieve self-reliance within the community. In particular, the agreement focuses on strengthening the foundation for community cooperation to ensure that families and infants facing prenatal and postnatal crises are not pushed out of the system.
The signing ceremony was attended by 28 directors of regional social welfare centers, including Jeong Byeong-ju, president of the Daegu Metropolitan City Social Welfare Center Association.
The 'First Step Support Project for Crisis Pregnant Women and Child Rearing' supports safe childbirth and healthy growth of children through customized counseling and resource linkage. The two organizations plan to provide home visiting services by linking and dispatching home visiting specialists, Childcare Savers, and expand case management and community resource linkage for crisis families.
According to the agreement, Save the Children's Eastern Regional Headquarters will be responsible for project planning, operation, project cost support, and overall monitoring, while the Daegu Metropolitan City Social Welfare Center Association will be responsible for target identification, case management, and field-centered service linkage based on its network of social welfare centers.
Jeong Byeong-ju, president of the Daegu Metropolitan City Social Welfare Center Association, said, “We will actively cooperate to ensure that families with pregnant women at risk can take the first step toward raising their children together with the local community through a cooperative model that combines the on-site experience of local social welfare centers and Save the Children’s expertise in child rights.”
Jang Seong-jun, Save the Children's Eastern Regional Director, said, "Support during pregnancy, childbirth, and the early stages of life is a crucial starting point for protecting children's lives and rights. Through this agreement, we will strengthen the childcare safety net so that families with pregnant women in crisis can receive practical care and support from the community."
The two organizations plan to continue to work closely together to build a sustainable community support model that enables at-risk pregnant women and children in the early stages of life to grow up safely and healthily, and to continue joint efforts to promote children's rights.
