Eco-friendly cold chain solution company Shinsungo (CEO Lee Seong-hun) announced on the 12th that it will enter the next-generation data center market together with Korea IDC (operator Viaweb), a brand specializing in server hosting and IDC operations.
On the 8th, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Construction and Demonstration of High-Efficiency Edge Data Centers. Under this agreement, Shinsungo will apply its proprietary modular cooling solution technology to data center infrastructure.
The edge data center being developed will be a compact, modular design that can be installed in urban wasteland or even inside buildings. It is expected to be utilized in environments requiring immediate data processing, such as autonomous driving and smart factories.
Shinsenggo, a company born from LG Electronics' in-house venture, developed a modular cooling solution that uses refrigerator design technology to cool server racks in small units. This technology reduces power consumption compared to conventional data center methods.
Korea IDC is responsible for system construction, network integration, and performance verification in actual operating environments, based on over 20 years of server operation experience.
The two companies plan to jointly pursue a 5MW-class edge data center POC project and commercialize eco-friendly data center models of various sizes to target the global, domestic, and international advanced data center markets.
“The key to modular insulation technology lies in efficient temperature control,” said Lee Seong-hun, CEO of Shinseongo. “Through our collaboration with Korea IDC, our cooling solutions will contribute to achieving carbon neutrality in the IT infrastructure industry.”
