The Gangwon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Lee Hae-jeong) announced on the 12th that it is recruiting companies to participate in the "2026 Gangwon Startup Support Project," in collaboration with the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, targeting young entrepreneurs in the province. The application deadline is the 30th of this month. This project aims to support young entrepreneurs with technological prowess and excellent ideas to overcome the "Death Valley" and achieve sustainable growth.
The program is divided into three tracks based on startup stage: pre-startup (less than 1 year in business), early-stage startup (1-3 years in business), and startup takeoff (3-7 years in business), and offers tailored support. Selected companies will receive up to 45 million won in prototype production commercialization funding, expert mentoring, and a step-by-step acceleration program, including access to investor relations (IR) connections.
Applicants must be startups headquartered in the province and aspiring startups. Recruitment will focus on technology-based industries such as manufacturing, ICT, and AI. Preference will be given to companies in Gangwon's future industries, such as semiconductors, biotechnology, and future mobility. Online and offline business briefing sessions will be held in Chuncheon on January 15th, Gangneung on January 16th, and online on January 20th. Applications are accepted through the Gangwon Innovation Center website until January 30th. Last year's program resulted in the development of a total of 40 startups, generating KRW 12.59 billion in sales, creating 93 new jobs, and attracting KRW 1.4 billion in investment.
Gangwon Innovation Center Director Lee Hae-jeong said, “The Gangwon Startup Support Project is a core project that helps young entrepreneurs overcome the Valley of Death and take a leap forward,” and added, “We look forward to the participation of young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas and technologies this year as well.”
