Wikip Co., Ltd. (CEO Jang Bo-young), an e-commerce fulfillment specialist, announced on the 13th that its cold chain logistics center has obtained FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification 22000) certification.
FSSC 22000 is a global food safety management system certification recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). It builds on the ISO 22000 standard by adding hygiene and environmental management standards (PRPs) and additional requirements. It rigorously verifies hygiene and quality management systems throughout the entire food process, from receipt to storage and distribution.
Fulfillment logistics centers operate in a more complex environment than standard logistics centers, as they simultaneously store and manage products from multiple vendors, packaging and shipping orders immediately. In particular, they must simultaneously handle both fresh and processed foods in a multi-temperature environment encompassing frozen, refrigerated, and room temperature, requiring a sophisticated management system.
Wikip has established an integrated food safety management system covering all areas of center operation, including receiving and inspection, temperature-based zone management, picking and packing processes, cold chain maintenance, cross-contamination prevention, equipment and facility hygiene, and worker training and inspection, and has passed the audit by a certification agency.
This certification is expected to provide WeKip with value as a logistics partner that meets international standards for sellers of fresh foods requiring cold chains, such as HMR, meal kits, frozen and refrigerated convenience foods, and health functional foods, as well as K-food brands preparing to enter the global market.
Jang Bo-young, CEO of Wikip, said, “The GFSI-recognized global food safety management system certification demonstrates Wikip’s expertise in refrigeration and freezing operations and will serve as an important stepping stone for our growth as a global logistics partner in the fresh food category.”
