X-LOG (CEO Seok-ju Jang) , a real-time data replication and transfer specialist, announced on the 14th that it has supplied and completed the construction of its real-time data replication solution, ‘X-LOG for CDC’, for the National Forensic Hospital’s Integrated Medical Information System (HIS) remote site duplication system (DR, Disaster Recovery) project.
The National Forensic Hospital, a specialized treatment institution affiliated with the Ministry of Justice, provides admission, custody, and treatment to patients under treatment and custody, and conducts related investigations and research. The hospital's Integrated Medical Information System (IMS) is a core IT infrastructure that integrates and manages all aspects of medical and administrative operations, including treatment, prescriptions, nursing, medical records, medical imaging, administrative affairs, insurance claims, and management.
Recently, service interruptions due to fires, power outages, and system failures have occurred, particularly in public institutions and key information infrastructure organizations. This highlights the importance of DR systems that can maintain business continuity even in disaster situations. In this environment, the National Forensic Service's DR system implementation is considered a case study that strengthens service continuity in public medical institutions.
For this project, Xlog applied CDC (Change Data Capture) technology, which captures the change log of the HIS database in real time and immediately reflects it in a remote redundant system. This enabled a real-time DR environment, synchronizing data between the main and remote systems with minimal delay. In the event of a failure, Xlog enabled immediate switching to the remote system, ensuring continuous operation of medical services.
Unlike conventional methods that replicate data periodically, CDC-based DR reduces the risk of data loss by transmitting and reflecting data changes immediately. This allows system transitions while maintaining the same data state at the same point in time, supporting uninterrupted operations.
With this implementation, the National Forensic Hospital has secured a redundant system that enables immediate operation from a remote DR center without interruption of main hospital services even in the event of a disaster or system failure, while simultaneously enhancing the stability and efficiency of patient data management and medical IT infrastructure operation.
Xlog plans to expand its DR and CDC business, focusing on general hospitals, university hospitals, and public medical institutions, through this project.
