CNT Tech (CEO Jeon Hwa-seong) announced on the 15th that it has invested in Wim Co., Ltd. (CEO Jeon Woo-jin), a company developing an integrated robot control platform for implementing Physical AI. This investment was made through the "AI Angel-CNT Tech Private Investment Association No. 3" and "CNT Tech Investment Association No. 22," and the specific investment amount was not disclosed.
WIM Co., Ltd. focuses on developing the intelligent robot controller "W-RC" and the integrated AI robot control software package "WIM PACK." WIM aims to create an integrated control platform that simultaneously addresses the hardware separation and software fragmentation issues inherent in the existing robotics industry.
Existing robotic systems have physically separate AI computation and control devices, with GPU-based AI processing and PLC or MCU-based controllers operating independently. This structure results in communication delays and synchronization issues, and complex wiring and system configurations, limiting the implementation of mobile and small robots. On the software side, operating systems, drivers, and control frameworks vary depending on the robot type and chipset, fragmenting the control stack.
WIM's core technology simultaneously implements physical hardware integration and logical software integration. It runs GPU-based AI computation and CPU-based real-time robotics control on a single SoC, such as the NVIDIA Jetson, minimizing delays and communication bottlenecks between AI computation and the control loop.
On the software side, WIM PACK provides a platform abstraction layer between hardware and robotic applications. Developers can focus on designing robotic functions on top of a standardized control environment and API, regardless of the underlying semiconductor or SoC. This is similar to how the Android OS standardized the app execution environment across various chipsets and manufacturers in the smartphone market.
A CNT Tech official said, “Wim is solving the structural inefficiency of the detachable robot system from a platform perspective, and the development cost and period will be greatly reduced through the diffusion of the technology,” adding, “This will become a key infrastructure that will advance the popularization of the robot industry in the Physical AI era.”
