Weisen and International St. Mary's Hospital to Promote Medical AI Demonstration Project in Bali, Indonesia

AI medtech company Waysen announced on the 16th that it will collaborate with Catholic Kwandong University International St. Mary's Hospital and a key medical institution in Bali, Indonesia, to conduct a medical AI technology demonstration project. This project is an extension of the ICT-based medical cooperation agreement recently signed between the International St. Mary's Hospital and Ngurah Rai National Hospital in Denpasar, Bali. Key officials from both sides, along with Waysen, attended the signing ceremony, where they agreed to conduct AI technology demonstrations and joint research in the local medical environment.

Ngurah Rai National Central General Hospital, a national public hospital under the Indonesian Ministry of Health, is a key medical institution in the Bali region with approximately 700 beds. It provides advanced treatment for cancer, organ transplants, and severe and rare diseases, serving as a leading general hospital in Indonesia. Weisen and International St. Mary's Hospital plan to gradually implement and validate ICT-based medical systems and AI solutions at the hospital.

Last December, Weissen and International St. Mary's Hospital signed a business agreement aimed at globalizing K-Medical, establishing a practical cooperative system between hospitals and businesses. The two organizations plan to establish a collaborative model encompassing all areas of clinical practice, research, and business, including overseas expansion, medical AI product development and clinical application, and joint research initiatives.

This Bali demonstration project represents the first overseas application of this collaboration, focusing on addressing the regional gap in healthcare accessibility caused by the archipelago's geography. Waysen will apply its medical AI technology, including its AI endoscopic solution WayMed Endo, in a local clinical setting to verify its effectiveness and scalability. International St. Mary's Hospital will jointly develop a medical AI utilization model based on its clinical and research capabilities.

Father Koh Dong-hyun, president and director of Catholic Kwandong University Medical Center, said, “Through this agreement, we will strengthen ICT-based medical research and share Korea’s advanced medical system,” adding, “We hope to improve the quality of medical services by expanding the global network and contribute to the advancement of medical care in both countries.”

Kim Kyung-nam, CEO of Weisen, said, “It is very meaningful to begin verifying medical AI technology in Bali. By collaborating with the International St. Mary’s Hospital and applying and verifying it in a clinical environment at a local base hospital, it will be a turning point for us to leap forward as a medical AI technology that is trusted in the global market.”
