Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Han In-guk) announced on the 19th that Pixelo Co., Ltd. (CEO Kang Seok-myeong), a graduate company of the 9th Daegu C-Lab Accelerating Batch, was designated as an innovative product by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups for its AI-based self-diagnosis technology.
Pixel's technology, recently designated as an innovative product, is software that utilizes artificial intelligence to enable users to self-diagnose their eye condition in a non-face-to-face environment. Its excellence in innovation, public applicability, and social value led to its official designation.
The technology is designed to allow anyone to easily check their eye condition without the intervention of a separate medical professional by analyzing the user's examination response using a built-in camera and display.
Pixel is a graduate of the 9th Daegu C-Lab Accelerator Program, operated by the Daegu Metropolitan City and the Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation. Through this program's support, the company has established a foundation for technology commercialization. Through this process, the company has obtained Class 1 medical device approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and has accumulated clinical trials and validation results in public and medical institutions.
In addition, we have developed a self-diagnosis kiosk based on AI eye-tracking technology and digital healthcare technology, completed ISO13485 and cGMP certification and FDA registration, and are continuing to verify the technology through medical device suitability assessments at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and clinical trials at Korea University Ansan Hospital.
With this innovative product designation, the product will be registered in the Innovation Market Mall within the public procurement system, enabling it to be supplied to public institutions and local governments. This is expected to lay the foundation for business expansion.
Pixel is strengthening its overseas network, focusing on Southeast Asia and the Middle East, by signing a distribution agreement with a local partner in Thailand and a business agreement with an Indian company. Through these efforts, the company is expanding its overseas sales and accelerating its entry into the global market.
Kang Seok-myeong, CEO of Pixelo, said, “With this innovative product designation as an opportunity, we will expand our preventative healthcare technology that can be utilized in public settings and develop it into a service that contributes to improving the nation’s eye health.”
Han In-guk, CEO of the Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center, said, “This achievement, which led to the designation of an innovative product through medical device licensing and public demonstration, is an example of Pixelro’s technology being recognized for its potential to be utilized in the public sector.” He added, “We will continue to provide support so that excellent technologies can settle and spread in industrial settings.”
