The Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Ministry of Employment and Labor signed a business agreement at the Government Complex Seoul on the 20th to alleviate the labor shortage in small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners and expand youth employment, and agreed to strengthen policy cooperation.
This agreement was established to expand employment opportunities for young people, alleviate the labor shortage faced by small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, and establish a government-wide cooperative system to improve working conditions and enhance employment stability.
Through this agreement, the two ministries have identified key collaborative goals, including addressing the job mismatch between young people and SMEs, developing a workforce that meets the demands of new industries, strengthening field-focused employment and recruitment support, and creating a foundation for sustainable jobs. Specifically, they will identify promising SMEs offering youth employment opportunities and support efforts to expand youth employment and work experience opportunities, ensuring that young people can secure stable employment and growth in SMEs.
Furthermore, in line with the AI talent development plan announced in December of last year for the labor market, the government will support the development of talent suitable for SMEs by linking the SME AX support project with AI vocational training programs. Furthermore, the government will strengthen the employment and entrepreneurship linkages of vocational training participants. Furthermore, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Hope Return Package and the Ministry of Employment and Labor's National Employment Support System will be linked to promote the re-entry of small business owners into the labor market and strengthen the employment safety net.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to ease the burden on young people entering the labor market and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in securing human resources by linking job support, job training, and employment services. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups also plans to support the creation of quality jobs by strengthening the management stability and growth foundations of SMEs and small business owners.
Minister of SMEs and Startups Han Seong-sook stated that this agreement marks the starting point for practical policy cooperation aimed at addressing the challenges of expanding youth employment and alleviating the labor shortage in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Young-hoon also stated that both ministries will focus their policy capabilities on creating a virtuous cycle connecting young people and SMEs.
