Don't be shy, Chonnam National University signs a business agreement

Chonnam National University and Atsujima Co., Ltd. announced that they will establish a cooperative system centered on technology development and industry-demand-driven industry-academia collaboration projects. On January 21, 2026, the two parties signed a business cooperation agreement linking Chonnam National University's Regional Intelligent Innovation Talent Development Project with the establishment and operation of contract departments for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Under this agreement, the two institutions will simultaneously pursue joint research and development and talent development. This collaborative model is characterized by a structure that begins with industrial needs, identifies tasks, and then leads to project implementation, technology development, and talent development. This will ensure that industry-academia cooperation extends beyond education and exchange to addressing practical, real-world problems.

In particular, the cooperation document linked to the Regional Intelligence Innovation Talent Development Project includes a commitment for Chonnam National University to collaborate with Aesjima on the development of new technologies, challenging technologies, and safety technologies. Accordingly, research topics are expected to expand beyond technological advancement to include research and development aimed at addressing challenges faced by industrial sites.

Furthermore, Aesjima plans to provide on-the-job training and internship opportunities for Chonnam National University undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in innovative talent development programs such as performance presentations and networking events. Through these initiatives, the company aims to establish a virtuous cycle linking education, on-the-job experience, and the dissemination of results.

The industry is paying close attention to whether this collaboration will serve as a case study in connecting the university's research capabilities with the on-site needs of companies into a single pipeline, thereby increasing the commercialization potential of R&D results.

Meanwhile, this research and collaborative activities are carried out with support from the Regional Intelligence Innovation Talent Development Project of the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute for Information and Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation (IITP).
