The Korea Institute for Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KIED) (Director Yoo Jong-pil) announced on January 22 that it was selected as the first certified company at the '2025 Rural Environment, Society, and Governance (ESG) Practice Recognition Award Ceremony' co-hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Large and Small Business Agricultural and Fishery Cooperation Foundation.
The Rural ESG Practice Recognition System is a system that evaluates cooperative activities between organizations and rural communities and selects companies and organizations that have achieved excellent results.
The Startup Promotion Agency has been promoting activities for the sustainable development of rural areas, including ▲support for young farmers to develop new markets, ▲entrepreneurship education for youth in remote islands and rural areas, ▲creation of specialized gardens in rural areas, and ▲entrepreneurship consultation for closed mine workers and local residents, in conjunction with the agency's startup support function.
Yoo Jong-pil, the president of the Korea Institute for Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, said, “This selection is the result of genuine, mutually beneficial activities with rural communities,” and added, “As a public institution, we will fulfill our social responsibility to address the crisis of rural extinction and achieve balanced regional development.”
