Pluto (CEO Lee Jeong-su) , an artificial intelligence (AI) data and solution company, announced on the 26th that it has started a full-scale project by participating as the data general partner of the Upstage Consortium, which has advanced to the second stage of the 'Independent AI Foundation Model (Dokpamo) Project' promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The Dokpamo Project is a national strategic initiative aimed at reducing dependence on global big tech and securing a domestically-based, ultra-large-scale AI model. The government comprehensively evaluated model technology, data competitiveness, and commercialization potential, and selected three consortia, including Upstage, to advance to the second phase.
As the overall data partner for this project, which determines model learning performance, Pluto will establish a standardized data construction and evaluation process and support the implementation of a "national AI model" immediately applicable to real-world industrial settings. Upstage will oversee all development, including model architecture design, training, and performance enhancement.
Pluto integrates the entire process of multilingual and multimodal data collection, refinement, and quality management. It also enhances model performance and ensures security through a copyright verification system and the construction of a post-training dataset. The project scope extends beyond Korean-centric multimodal data to include data in key global languages such as English and Japanese.
Pluto's participation in this consortium is a recognition of its technological prowess and quality management capabilities, accumulated through overseeing data construction in numerous national and public-private AI projects. This experience in building multimodal AI data, including language, voice, and image data, was a key factor.
