Game company CookApps (CEO Park Sung-min) announced on the 26th that it has signed a collaboration agreement with veteran European game studio Kuuasema and technology-focused studio CosmoUniverse to develop a new puzzle game. This collaboration is a strategic project primarily targeting the Western market.
Quasema is an experienced European studio that has worked on over 150 game projects over the past 20 years, collaborating with companies like Supercell, EA, Microsoft, King, Ubisoft, Red Bull, and Netflix. Cosmouniverse has grown its presence in the global gaming market, focusing on live services, backend technology, and large-scale operations. Its core team includes key personnel who have worked on global titles such as "Merge Mansion," the Ubisoft "Trials" series, and "Homeworld Mobile."
Through this collaboration, CookApps plans to apply its data-driven live operation capabilities, accumulated through the successful North American game "Sunny House" and the global service "Fortress Saga," to the Western puzzle market. The new project is based on the Merge and Match-3 genres, utilizing native art concepts familiar to North American and European users to provide a seamless user experience.
The division of roles has also been specifically defined. Cosmo Universe will handle backend development and project coordination, while Quasema will handle game planning and development. CookApps will lead investment, publishing, and overall global live service operations. The game is currently in the early stages of development and will be gradually released, focusing on Western markets.
A CookApps representative stated, "This collaboration is a complementary partnership that combines the strengths of each company. Combining the European studio's development expertise with CookApps' systematic live operation expertise, we anticipate synergy in the global market." CookApps plans to continue its global growth by expanding strategic partnerships with developers in various regions, including Europe.
