Ribodis selected for Samsung Electronics C-Lab Outside 8th batch

Wearable robot specialist Ribodis announced that it has been selected for the 8th batch of C-Lab Outside, Samsung Electronics' external startup incubation program.

Samsung Electronics C-Lab Outside is a program that identifies startups with high growth potential and supports their commercialization and growth. Selected companies receive business grants, mentoring from Samsung Electronics experts, and opportunities to participate in domestic and international information technology exhibitions.

Livodis is a company founded in 2008 based on soft robotics technology developed at the Biorobotics Lab, led by Professor Kyu-Jin Cho of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University. They develop soft wearable robots utilizing flexible materials and structures, reducing the weight and awkwardness of existing exoskeletons and minimizing the burden on the wearer's daily activities.

The company's core product is a muscle-assisted robot designed with the human gait mechanism in mind. Currently, a knee-assist robot is being developed as its first commercial product. Ribodis is conducting performance verification through collaboration with medical professionals and concept validation with senior users. Based on this, the company plans to expand its product lineup to cover various body parts.

With this selection as a C-Lab Outside partner, Livodis plans to focus on accelerating technological advancement and commercialization, and expanding the potential for everyday use of wearable robots.

Yoon Seong-sik, CEO of Ribodis, said that this selection has laid the foundation for lab-based technology to advance to the commercialization stage, and that he will develop wearable robots into solutions that can be naturally utilized in everyday life.
