Metanet Digital has signed a contract with the Korea Local Information Development Institute (KLID) for the "Cloud-based Next-Generation Local Tax Disaster Recovery System Construction Project" and has begun construction. Through this project, Metanet Digital will establish a disaster recovery system for the largest container-based private cloud platform in the domestic public sector.
The Local Tax Revenue Information System is a core administrative infrastructure used by 218 local governments, approximately 24,000 local tax officials, and over 11 million citizens. It is a government-wide, first-class system that has a significant impact on the entire administration in the event of a failure.
This project leverages the structural advantages of cloud platforms to introduce an active-active disaster recovery system to maintain administrative service continuity even in the event of a disaster. Metanet Digital will utilize a containerized private cloud platform based on Red Hat OpenShift and the domestically produced TmaxTivero DBMS. Through its proprietary CI/CD solution, MetaCICD, the company will establish an automated system to ensure real-time deployment and operation of identical applications across both the main and disaster recovery centers.
This project required the establishment of a sophisticated DR architecture, considering complex workflows, high traffic during the regular tax collection period, and the collection, linking, and deployment processes. Metanet Digital won the contract based on its 20+ years of experience building public finance and tax systems and its cloud-native technology.
Through this project, Metanet Digital plans to secure a cloud-based standard DR architecture model and gradually expand it to central government agencies and key public service areas. Going forward, the company plans to develop an intelligent, autonomous cloud DR system that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to predict failures and automatically recover from them.
Lee Chang-yeol, CEO of Metanet Digital, said, “This project is the starting point for public DR to transition from a backup-centered to a proactive response system,” and added, “Based on our experience building the largest-scale cloud DR in Korea, we will lead the paradigm shift in public DR by developing it into an AI-based autonomous crisis management system.”
