SDT and KAIST's Quantum Graduate School Sign MOU for Quantum Technology Research and Human Resource Development

Quantum standard technology specialist SDT (CEO Jiwon Yoon) announced on the 28th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KAIST (President Kwang-hyung Lee) Quantum Graduate School to promote the development of quantum technology and revitalize the industrial ecosystem.

The signing ceremony took place on the 26th at KAIST's main campus in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, with key officials in attendance, including SDT CEO Jiwon Yoon and KAIST Quantum Graduate School Dean Eunsung Kim. Through this agreement, the two parties agreed to pool their quantum computing technology and support capabilities and establish a multifaceted cooperative system, including joint research and talent development.

To enhance the research environment for KAIST researchers and students, SDT provides core quantum precision control equipment—CCU, TTMU, PGU, and QCU—and provides technical support through on-site expert engineers. Furthermore, SDT leverages its quantum design and manufacturing (QDM) capabilities to support engineering services such as precision milling, thereby enhancing the experimental environment.

In particular, SDT will provide KAIST with QuREKA, a hybrid quantum cloud platform based on a superconducting quantum computer (QPU) that natively supports NVIDIA's quantum computing platform, CUDA-Q. The platform will be utilized to develop high-performance computing (HPC) research and practical application cases utilizing both GPU and QPU resources.

The two institutions will also collaborate on developing educational curricula. They will plan a joint program that will provide undergraduate and graduate students with hands-on qubit training using RF equipment and training in quantum computing middleware and algorithm development.

In addition, a mutual technical advisory system has been established, with KAIST faculty serving as SDT technical advisors and SDT CEO Jiwon Yoon serving as KAIST advisors, leading the collaboration. SDT also participates in recruitment events such as 'Career Night' to support talent exchange and job placement.

KAIST Quantum Graduate School Dean Kim Eun-sung said, "Through this collaboration, we expect to jointly cultivate innovative talent with an entrepreneurial spirit." SDT CEO Yoon Ji-won stated, "We hope this collaboration will bridge the gap between research labs and industrial sites, creating a virtuous cycle where university research outcomes translate into industrial value."
