Superb AI (CEO Hyunsoo Kim), a vision AI all-in-one solution company, announced on the 28th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Robot Learning Lab of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) for mutual cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics.
Through this agreement, both institutions will advance physical AI technology, enabling robots to perceive and assess their physical environments. By combining POSTECH's robotics research capabilities with Superb AI's practical data infrastructure technology, they aim to accelerate the commercialization of next-generation robotic AI technology. Both organizations will conduct joint technology development and research related to AI and robotics, and collaborate on the creation of intellectual property based on industry-academia collaboration through academic activities and information exchange.
Superb AI supports POSTECH's Robot Learning Lab with the Superb Platform, an MLOps solution capable of building and managing high-quality AI data and training models. This platform aims to secure training data for robots to accurately perceive and perform tasks in complex and unpredictable real-world environments.
With this collaboration, SuperbAI is embarking on full-scale research and development to implement physical AI. Beyond software-centric AI, the company aims to lead the field of physical AI, applying it to solve problems arising in industrial settings by combining it with hardware like robots and heavy equipment.
The company is participating in the National AI Foundation Model Project consortium led by LG AI Research Institute, and is also developing core technologies to create a 3D digital twin of the real-world environment where robots will be deployed and generate synthetic data for AI training.
Additionally, we commercialized ZERO, a vision foundation model specialized for physical AI. ZERO is designed to recognize new environments and objects without additional learning, and is being utilized for AI applications operating in physical environments such as robotics, autonomous driving, and smart factories.
Professor Hye-Min Ahn of the Robot Learning Lab in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at POSTECH explained that for the industrial use of robots, large-scale, high-quality data collected in various environments is important, and she expects that the combination of SuperbAI's data platform and the lab's technology will enable the development of practical physical AI solutions.
Kim Hyun-soo, CEO of Superb AI, said that by combining POSTECH's research capabilities with the company's field-oriented data technology, the company will strengthen its competitiveness in AI technology that can be utilized in physical environments.
