AI GovTech company Wello (CEO Yurianna Kim) announced on the 4th its 'Korea GovTech 2026 Outlook Report' containing its domestic and international GovTech market outlook for 2026.
According to the report, the global government tech market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 16.5%, reaching approximately $1.2 trillion by 2028. Major countries are collaborating with private technology to transform their government systems. The United States is expanding AI, cloud, and big data-based government tech and collaborating with private data companies like Palantir, while Denmark and the UAE are also strengthening their public digital infrastructure by partnering with local IT and AI companies.
South Korea has set 2026 as the first year of its leap toward becoming one of the top three AI powers (AI G3), and is investing approximately 9.9 trillion won in its budget to promote national AI transformation, expand AI in administrative services, and utilize data-driven private technologies. The Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the National Data Agency are establishing a cross-national collaboration system, processing public data, and integrating metadata management. They are also strengthening technological infrastructure by expanding GPU supply and securing global 6G standards.
Wello emphasizes the core value of combining government infrastructure and private technology. It leverages its policy database and AI analysis technology to connect core services like Benefit Alert, Public MyData, and the Hometown Love Donation System to the central and local governments. This public-private platform model plays a key role in enhancing policy implementation and citizen impact, and its technological prowess was proven when it won the Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence Award (IAAI) at the 2025 Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).
Wello CEO Kim Yu-ri-anna said, “Korea has digital government capabilities and a data foundation, so it is important to build an ecosystem that promotes private sector participation.” She added, “When the government and the private sector, the central and local governments, and services and performance are connected through a single platform, we can establish ourselves as a government-focused tech powerhouse.”
