Autonomous A2Z , a global AI autonomous driving company, announced on the 3rd that it signed a business agreement with the National Taxi Transport Business Association on the 2nd to convert corporate taxis to autonomous driving.
Since November of last year, A2Z has been participating in the "Cooperative Council for the Transition of Corporate Taxi License-Based Autonomous Driving" with the Taxi Association and related organizations. The council was launched to explore ways for corporate taxis to proactively enter the autonomous driving market, and has been discussing technological application methods and institutional improvements.
This agreement builds on previous discussions by establishing a comprehensive cooperative system covering technology, operations, and systems. By directly engaging the taxi industry in the development of autonomous driving technology and service design, it is expected to minimize conflicts between new and existing industries and strengthen a mutually beneficial structure. Furthermore, the goal is to implement a Korean-style autonomous driving taxi service model that reflects the domestic transportation environment and user characteristics.
Under the agreement, A2Z will jointly develop customized autonomous driving software, vehicles, control, and operation models with the taxi industry, taking into account the domestic taxi operating environment, business structure, and institutional requirements. Considering complex road conditions and high safety standards, A2Z plans to adopt a hybrid end-to-end technology strategy that gradually integrates AI with rule-based autonomous driving technology.
A2Z has accumulated approximately 1 million kilometers of driving data through its route-based services in public transportation, including autonomous buses. Based on this data, A2Z plans to develop a roadmap for transitioning to autonomous taxis and expand its business to encompass all autonomous driving, including robobuses and robotaxis.
