Smart safety equipment company Safeware announced on the 6th that its smart fall protection airbag belt 'REDY' was selected as a target item for the 3rd pilot project for welfare equipment preliminary benefits promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Health Insurance Service.
The pilot project for pre-payment benefits for welfare equipment targets new technologies that have proven safe and appropriate but require verification of effectiveness for public benefits. This system applies benefits for a set period of time, after which the effectiveness and appropriateness of benefits are evaluated to determine whether to transition to full benefits. The third pilot project, implemented in 12 regions nationwide, includes AI-based fall protection airbags, digital medication reminders, and activity detection systems.
Safeware's Ready is a belt-type protective airbag designed to reduce the impact of a fall. High-precision sensors detect a fall and immediately deploy the airbag to protect key body parts, including the hip joint. Its practicality and expandability have been recognized, as it can be applied to a wide range of users at high risk of falling, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and dementia patients with limited mobility.
Ready also offers a dedicated app that allows users and guardians to monitor their safety status. The app provides real-time access to key information, including current location, recent visits, activity time, steps, risk level, device connection status, battery level, and accident history, supporting fall prevention and post-accident response.
Through this pilot project, Safeware plans to verify the effectiveness and usability of the system in real-world welfare settings and explore the possibility of converting it to a public benefit in the future. The third pilot project for the preliminary benefit will be implemented in 12 regions: Nowon-gu, Seoul; Wonju-si, Gangwon-do; Seo-gu, Incheon; Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do; Seo-gu, Daejeon; Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do; Dalseo-gu, Daegu; Busanjin-gu, Busan; Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do; Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju; Wansan-gu, Jeonju; and Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
