Blue Point Partners announced on the 6th that it held a startup ideathon with Seoul National University student accelerator SNAAC on the topic of ‘local extinction.’
This event aimed to explore solutions to the problem of local extinction from a technology and entrepreneurship perspective, rather than a policy or institutional one. Blue Point Partners is experimenting with startup discovery methods through venture studio-style programs focused on specific industries and agendas.
Thirty-six undergraduate and graduate students participated in the two-day, one-night event held at Seoul National University. Participants completed the entire process, including team building, problem definition, solution design, IR presentation, and demo website creation, producing results with commercial viability in mind.
The Ideathon presented a variety of proposals addressing industrial, labor, and spatial issues in depopulated areas. These included a group purchasing platform for direct shipments from producers, eliminating intermediaries; a comprehensive solution based on veterinarian matching to address the large animal healthcare gap in depopulated areas; and a local experiential content platform that connects idle spaces in rural cities with escape rooms.
Jeong Dong-woon, CEO of SNAAC, said, “It is very meaningful that students had the experience of concretizing social challenges into practical business ideas,” and added, “We will continue to work to ensure that entrepreneurship becomes an attractive option for SNU members.”
Cha Woo-jin, Bluepoint's chief auditor, said, "This ideathon was an opportunity to experiment with solutions to the problem of local extinction from a technology and business perspective," and added, "We plan to connect the attempts that emerged here with future company buildings and initial investments."
SNAAC is a student-led accelerator established with the goal of revitalizing Seoul National University's startup ecosystem. It operates 'NAACst STEP,' a program every semester to discover and nurture alumni startup teams, and is actively promoting a culture of entrepreneurship on campus.
