Vision AI specialist company Seelab (CEO Se-hyeok Yoon and Jeong-hwan Chae) announced on the 6th that it will collaborate with global robotics company Orion Star Korea to conquer the physical AI market.
Seelab has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Orion Star Korea to jointly promote a physical AI-based smart city project. Through this agreement, Seelab plans to expand its AI business, which has traditionally focused on software, into physical environments combined with hardware such as robots, thereby establishing a business model that enables field application and revenue generation.
The smart city market is evolving beyond simple CCTV control and data analysis to embrace "on-site AI," where robots and mobility directly perform services. Seelab plans to apply its vision AI technology to Orion Star Korea's service robots to provide an integrated physical AI solution capable of "vision → analysis → action."
Through this collaboration, the two companies will jointly develop AI service robots specialized for smart cities, build an AI platform that integrates sensor, video, and location data, and jointly secure contracts for large-scale smart city projects both domestically and internationally. The goal is to move beyond the simple proof-of-concept (PoC) phase and enter the commercialization phase, generating revenue in real-world urban environments.
Orion Star Korea supplies a variety of service robots, including serving, logistics, and quarantine robots, globally, and possesses technological prowess and mass production capabilities. Cielab plans to leverage Orion Star Korea's global supply chain and customer network to expand its business beyond Korea into the global smart city market.
Seelab provides AI predictive models and solutions for processing data within smart cities and serves as an integrated control platform linked to robotic systems. This is expected to generate a stable revenue stream combining hardware sales and software subscriptions.
Yoon Se-hyeok, CEO of C-Lab, said, “This agreement provides an opportunity for our vision AI technology to leap beyond the virtual space and become a physical AI company that creates value in actual physical settings.” He added, “By combining it with proven robotics technology, we will secure competitiveness in the smart city market.”
Kim Min-soo, CEO of Orion Star Korea, said, “The combination of SeeLab’s advanced vision AI technology and our robot manufacturing capabilities will provide innovative services that enhance the operational efficiency of smart cities.”
