Xenoco, a specialist in aerospace and defense electronics, announced on the 10th that it had won a contract to supply high-power amplifiers (TWTAs) as part of a project to improve the performance of surface ship military satellite communication systems. The contract is worth 6.1 billion won.
This project is part of the Defense Rapid Acquisition Technology Research Institute's ongoing program to maximize existing capabilities, aimed at improving the performance of surface ship military satellite communication systems. Its goal is to replace aging equipment onboard ships with state-of-the-art technology. Xenoco will be responsible for replacing the existing equipment with the new TWTA.
STX Engine is the lead contractor for this project, which was initiated in response to the need for replacement of existing equipment that was reaching its end-of-life. Xenoco will be responsible for supplying core equipment for the surface ship's military satellite communications system and will ensure the stable operation of the project.
The company stated that this order demonstrates its technological prowess and reliability, and that its collaboration with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is highly likely to lead to subsequent orders in the space and satellite sectors. Xenoco is also expected to play a key role alongside KAI in Korea's largest satellite project and the K-LEO (Low Earth Orbit Satellite) project, often referred to as the Korean version of Starlink.
A Xenoco official said, “This order is the starting point for replacing aging military satellite communication equipment and is a case that proves our technological prowess and business execution capabilities,” adding, “As we are collaborating with Korea Aerospace Industries and achieving visible results in the space and low-orbit satellite fields, a new phase of growth for Xenoco will begin along with the dawn of the space age.”
