L&F, a global secondary battery materials specialist, announced on the 4th that its Daegu Guji 1 Plant was selected as an 'Excellent Workplace for Worker Health Promotion Activities in 2025' by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
The Outstanding Workplaces in Employee Health Promotion Activities program, as designated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, recognizes workplaces that promote employee health promotion activities through a comprehensive evaluation of their system development, program operation, and environmental management. With this designation, L&F Guji Plant 1 will maintain its Outstanding Workplace status for the next three years and receive official recognition for its outstanding performance in employee health promotion activities.
During the selection process, Guji Plant 1 passed evaluations in seven areas: system development, awareness, organizational culture, health promotion activities, environmental management, program operation, and partner management. In particular, its efforts to improve health promotion activities and program operation received high marks.
Guji Plant 1 operated a detailed management system tailored to the characteristics of workers' jobs and their health conditions. In 2024, various programs were implemented, including physical fitness assessments and exercise prescriptions (206 employees), job stress tests (392 employees), musculoskeletal risk factor assessments (406 employees), and smoking cessation programs (14 employees). The participation rate for the physical fitness assessments and exercise prescription programs was 93%, while the job stress tests and musculoskeletal risk factor assessments achieved 100% participation, meeting the target. As a result of management efforts based on the musculoskeletal risk factor assessments, the number of casualties from musculoskeletal disorders decreased by 60% compared to the previous year, and four out of 14 participants in the smoking cessation program successfully quit smoking.
In addition, L&F Guji Plant 1 has a labor-management joint promotion system, including regular discussions through the Industrial Safety and Health Committee, assignment of a dedicated organization, and a planning-execution-evaluation-feedback system. In addition, workers from partner companies are also allowed to participate in health promotion programs.
L&F COO Lee Byung-hee stated, “This is the result of labor-management cooperation, viewing worker health as the foundation of corporate competitiveness,” and added, “We will continue to manage and support worker health promotion and work steadily to create a safe and healthy workplace.”
