Energy and climate tech company Enlighten (CEO Young-ho Lee) announced on the 12th that it has installed a rooftop solar power generation facility with a total capacity of 2.3MW at Lotte Infracell and Lotte Packaging Solutions’ Ansan and Jincheon factories.
This project included the installation of 529.9kW of solar power at Lotte Infracell's Ansan plant and 1,770.3kW at Lotte Packaging Solutions' Jincheon plant. Both plants adopted Enlighten's RE100 solar subscription model, increasing their share of renewable energy without requiring additional facility investment. This is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1,300 tons annually.
Enlighten's RE100 solar subscription model allows companies to pay a monthly fee without directly owning the facility. Enlighten is responsible for the entire process, from design and construction to operation and maintenance. This allows companies to reduce their electricity bills and expand their use of renewable energy, all while achieving their RE100 goals.
This project also improved operational and safety management efficiency. While facilities at the Jincheon plant typically require resident safety management personnel for 1MW to 3MW capacity, Enlighten integrated remote monitoring capabilities into its proprietary monitoring unit (RTU), reducing the burden on staff and improving operational efficiency. A system was established to remotely control inverters and circuit breakers in the event of an anomaly, and to share the results of the action with the business owner and safety manager in real time.
Lee Young-ho, CEO of Enlighten, said, “This project is a concrete example of how large corporations can implement RE100 without initial investment in their manufacturing facilities,” and added, “We will continue to support the implementation of RE100 across the industry by further enhancing the structure that reduces the costs and operational burdens that companies face in the process of transitioning to renewable energy.”
