Doohands, which operates the fulfillment service Poomgo, has established a dedicated fulfillment center in Jeju Island and launched the Jeju Tomorrow Delivery beta service on the 12th.
Due to its geographical characteristics, Jeju Island is classified as an island region, isolated from the mainland, making it relatively limited in terms of fast e-commerce delivery services. Doohands officially opened its Jeju Fulfillment Center in January and plans to include Jeju in its fast delivery zone, bridging the gap in delivery between regions.
The Jeju Next-Day Delivery beta service is designed to allow Jeju residents to receive their products the same day or the next day. Previously, shipping from inland centers to Jeju took an average of two to three days, but with this service, delivery times have been reduced by up to three days. The company explained that it has improved the scope and quality of its service compared to the existing Jeju delivery service without incurring additional logistics costs.
According to Poomgo's internal data from the past month, delivery indicators in the Jeju region have improved since the Jeju Center opened. The same-day delivery rate in Jeju, previously at 0%, rose to 8%, and the next-day delivery rate increased from 0.5% to 44%.
Additionally, the next-day delivery completion rate for orders placed within the 3:00 PM order cutoff time was close to 100 percent. During the beta test period, Doohands plans to continuously improve its next-day delivery completion rate by enhancing operational efficiency.
This service targets brands seeking to secure independent, fast delivery competitiveness in the Jeju region without relying on the delivery networks of specific large platforms. Through Poomgo, brands can expand their fast delivery coverage throughout Jeju.
The core of the service's operation is Poomgo's dynamic allocation technology. When an order is placed, it automatically distributes it to the optimal fulfillment center based on real-time data. Orders from the Jeju region are prioritized for the Jeju fulfillment center. Furthermore, daily freight volumes are predicted using a proprietary AI model that combines 10-minute real-time order data with external variables such as weather and economic indicators. Based on this, brands can proactively allocate inventory to the Jeju center, ensuring reliable one-day delivery even during events like promotions or weather changes.
As a partner of Naver Fulfillment Alliance and eBay Fulfillment Alliance, Poomgo offers services such as same-day delivery, 24-hour order cutoff, 7-day delivery, and guaranteed 5-day arrival in Japan. With the addition of the Jeju center, Poomgo now boasts a nationwide network of 15 fulfillment centers, including those in the Gyeonggi and Chungcheong regions.
Doohands plans to officially launch its Jeju Tomorrow Delivery service in the second half of this year by supplementing its processes based on beta service operation data.
