Terahertz technology and solution company Terraview (CEO Donald Dominic Arnon) announced on the 12th that the THz solution it presented at 'SEMICON Korea 2026' is receiving attention from AI chip and HBM related companies, and business meetings are continuing.
SEMICON Korea 2026, hosted by the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), is a large-scale exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and equipment, with participation from domestic and international semiconductor equipment and materials companies. This year's exhibition will run from the 11th to the 13th, featuring approximately 550 companies and 2,400 booths.
At this exhibition, Terraview introduced EOTPR (Electro-Optical Terahertz Pulse Reflectometry), an ultra-precision inspection system utilizing terahertz waves (THz), which vibrate at a rate of one trillion times per second. EOTPR boasts higher precision and non-destructive properties than conventional semiconductor inspection methods, enabling it to effectively detect defects and failures within complex, multilayer semiconductor packages.
As the structure and manufacturing process of highly integrated semiconductors become more refined, it is becoming increasingly difficult to detect internal defects using only existing inspection methods. Accordingly, high-performance semiconductor companies are paying attention to Terraview's THz inspection equipment and solutions.
Terraview anticipates that securing new customers will continue smoothly, based on its proven technology, which has led to repeat purchases after delivery to major global customers. The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) projects that the global semiconductor market will reach approximately $975 billion in 2026, a 25% year-on-year growth rate. Research Nester also forecasts that the semiconductor inspection system market will grow by an average of more than 8% annually from 2026 to 2035, exceeding $15.78 billion in 2035.
A Terraview official said, “Through the exhibition, we were able to confirm that Korea can become a strategic base for conquering the Asian market as it emerges as a key country in the global semiconductor supply chain,” and “We will actively communicate with companies related to AI chips and HBM to create cooperation and practical business.”
