Eleven Labs, a startup specializing in AI audio research and development, announced on the 24th that it is conducting a PoC (proof of concept) project with Witz, a company specializing in character brand and publicity rights IP licensing, to learn and utilize the voice of domestic voice actor Bae Han-seong through AI.
This PoC will be conducted by Witz, which will design a licensing and utilization model for voice actor Bae Han-seong's IP, and will utilize Eleven Labs' world-class AI TTS (Text-to-Speech, voice synthesis) technology. The project will verify the legal licensing of celebrity voices and the feasibility of AI-based voice generation and utilization, and will explore future expansion into diverse fields such as advertising, content, education, and voice services.
Founded in 2022, Eleven Labs began developing an AI TTS model that is nearly indistinguishable from a human, and has since expanded its research to encompass speech recognition, sound effects, dubbing, music, and conversational AI. This technology, combined with integration and orchestration and enterprise-grade infrastructure, is now available as a ready-to-commercialize platform for businesses, creators, and developers.
Witz has recently been actively pursuing an AI-based licensing business utilizing the voices of celebrities, and this PoC is expected to present a new voice IP utilization model by combining the voice of voice actor Bae Han-seong with AI technology on a formal contract basis.
Jinik Park, Co-CEO of Witz, said, “This PoC is an important step in verifying the possibility of utilizing celebrity voices in various industries by combining IP licensing capabilities and global AI voice technology.” He added, “We will increase the accessibility and usability of celebrity voice IP and pioneer a new voice licensing market.”
Hong Sang-won, CEO of the Korean branch, said, “This PoC is an opportunity to demonstrate that Eleven Labs’ technology can be implemented in real-world settings,” and added, “We will support the smooth utilization of core AI technologies such as voice synthesis and voice recognition in various work settings.”
Through this PoC, Witz plans to verify the legal use of celebrity voice IP and the possibility of combining AI technology, and to expand into an AI voice-based licensing platform business in the future.
