Ellis Group (CEO Jae-won Kim), which provides AI infrastructure, cloud, and industry-specific solutions, announced on February 25 that it will join the LG AI Research Institute consortium, which is carrying out the government-led 'Independent Artificial Intelligence (AI) Foundation Model, Dokpamo' project.
The Ellis Group was added as a strategic partner in recognition of its AI-specific infrastructure and service expansion capabilities, and its technological capabilities to reliably deliver LG AI Research Institute's large-scale language model 'K-EXAONE', which has completed its first verification, to public and private sector sites are cited as the background for joining.
The Ellis Group plans to leverage its mobile modular data center (Ellis AI PMDC) operating system to provide K-ExaOne in a stable API format and establish a managed AI platform environment. This will enable public institutions and private companies to quickly establish and utilize dedicated AI environments without the need for large-scale infrastructure.
In addition, by leveraging the operational capabilities of Elliscloud, the company will immediately apply the 'K-ExaOne' model to industries such as manufacturing, finance, and the public sector where security and reliability are important, and provide industry-specific services such as work automation, document creation, and knowledge retrieval (RAG), thereby promoting expansion into the B2G and B2B markets.
Accessibility for general users will also be enhanced. Ellis Group plans to integrate K-ExaOne into its existing corporate and institutional generative AI solution, AI Helpy Chat, in April, enabling users to utilize its proprietary foundation model, optimized for the domestic business environment, in their daily work.
Kim Jae-won, CEO of Ellis Group, said, “It is meaningful to be able to contribute to securing domestic AI sovereignty,” and added, “We will lead the development of the domestic AI ecosystem and technological independence by creating an environment where anyone can easily and stably utilize their own AI models.”
