Sonics Signs Five-Year Supply Agreement with Wilson Connectivity

Sonics, a foundry specializing in advanced communication filter technology, announced on the 27th that it has signed a five-year long-term supply contract for communication filter modules based on TF-SAW (Thin Film Surface Acoustic Wave) foundry technology with Wilson Connectivity, a 5G signal amplifier equipment company headquartered in Utah, USA.

Under this agreement, Sonics will supply high-power, low-loss TF-SAW foundry-based communication filter modules, a key component of signal amplifiers. The supply volume will be delivered sequentially based on product orders confirmed after the contract signing. Wilson Connectivity plans to incorporate the filter modules into its signal amplifiers and supply them to the US market.

Wilson Connectivity has been receiving over $1 million worth of communication filter modules annually from a global top-tier communications components supplier. This contract, which will replace this existing volume with Sonics products, demonstrates Sonics' proven TF-SAW foundry technology and quality competitiveness in the global market.

The company believes that this contract will go beyond a simple supply chain transition and serve as an opportunity to secure a reference within the global telecommunications infrastructure value chain and expand the potential for additional orders.

Signal amplifiers are considered essential infrastructure equipment for maintaining communication quality in the United States, a country with a vast territory and long-distance communications environment. As 5G coverage expands, demand for related equipment is expected to continue growing. Through this long-term supply contract, Sonics plans to secure a mid- to long-term revenue base in the North American 5G infrastructure market and expand its business into the wireless communications equipment sector.

Yang Hyung-guk, CEO of Sonics, stated that this contract is significant because it marks the first direct long-term supply agreement with a major US telecommunications equipment company, replacing a global parts supplier. He also explained that Sonics plans to expand the application of its TF-SAW foundry technology, currently supplied to global wearable customers in North America, to the 5G wireless communications equipment and global infrastructure markets.
