The Korea Artificial Intelligence and Software Industry Association announced on February 27 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MarkAny to ensure compliance with the AI Basic Act and content reliability.
The Framework Act on AI, which went into effect in January, mandates the display of a watermark indicating AI-generated image, video, and audio content. This agreement aims to strengthen transparency and accountability for generative AI content to meet this legal requirement.
Under the agreement, KOSA will foster an environment conducive to the proliferation of trustworthy technologies within the AI industry ecosystem and support member companies in smoothly adopting related technologies. MarkAny will provide KOSA members with core technologies for verifying content provenance and authenticity, including C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity)-based technologies and watermarking solutions, free of charge. This will provide technical support to AI companies to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
KOSA stated that it expects this agreement to provide practical support to its member companies, who are facing difficulties in developing technological response measures following the implementation of the Framework Act on AI. Furthermore, it stated that it will expand strategic collaboration with various technology companies to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic AI industry as a whole.
MarkAny announced that it will support compliance with the AI Basic Act based on its watermarking and C2PA packaging technologies and lead related standards, contributing to the creation of a trustworthy AI ecosystem.
The two organizations plan to expand technological collaboration and information exchange targeting AI companies in the future and cooperate to build a transparent industrial environment in compliance with the AI Basic Act.
