Sejong Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Oh Deuk-chang, hereinafter referred to as “Sejong Center”) announced on the 26th that it has been selected as the central region operating organization for the “2026 Local Startup Promotion Project” promoted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Small and Medium Business Corporation.
The Local Startup Incubation Program aims to discover small business owners who leverage local resources and characteristics to develop competitive local businesses. The program selects operating agencies by region nationwide. The Sejong Center was selected as the operating agency for the central region (Sejong, Daejeon, South Chungcheong, and North Chungcheong) in this competition, and will be responsible for discovering and fostering local startups in the region.
In particular, the Sejong Center plans to effectively operate a "Local Startup Growth Ladder" support system that covers everything from discovering potential startups to nurturing early-stage local businesses and scaling up growth-stage businesses, based on its experience in implementing the New Business Startup Academy, Local Creator Development Project, and Strong Small Business Growth Support Project.
Additionally, we plan to utilize the Sejong Center's public accelerator function to support the practical growth of participating companies and operate a field-oriented startup incubation platform based on the local startup town.
Oh Deuk-chang, CEO of the Sejong Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, said, “This selection as an operating organization in the central region is a recognition of our experience and expertise in operating local startup support projects in an integrated manner,” and added, “We will pursue systematic support so that small business owners who start businesses based on local resources can leap forward as competitive local startups.”
