Carrot Expands "Buy Now" Offer to Nationwide

Carrot, a local community for local life, announced on the 3rd that it will expand its secondhand trading scope nationwide for "Buy Now" listings. While daily necessities will continue to be traded on a neighborhood basis, the core of this reorganization is the expansion of the scope to allow for transactions without distance restrictions for items difficult to find locally.

The Instant Purchase feature, introduced in September of last year, is a courier transaction method that provides a one-stop service from payment to receipt of goods. Secure payment is standard for user protection, and the structure ensures both the convenience and reliability of contactless transactions. According to the company, as of February of this year, the number of completed Instant Purchase transactions increased approximately 90-fold compared to the initial launch.

Previously, listings on Carrot were searchable and transactable only within a local area, regardless of transaction method. However, some categories had limited listings within a given area, making it difficult to find desired items. In particular, demand for specific brands of clothing, baby products, and hobby goods was limited depending on the region.

Accordingly, Carrot has expanded its search scope to include only immediate purchase listings that require courier delivery nationwide. Users can now search for immediate purchase products nationwide alongside existing local listings. However, the homepage feed will continue to prioritize local listings, while immediate purchase listings nationwide can only be found through search. The company plans to initially apply this feature to a select group of users and then gradually expand it after verifying service stability.

Carrot officials explained that while maintaining a neighborhood-based identity, they expanded the range of user choices and transaction convenience to suit the characteristics of immediate purchase.
