Biscat Secures Seed Investment from Bluepoint Partners

Biscat, a startup specializing in robotic operational intelligence, has secured initial funding from a deep tech accelerator. The investment amount and company value were not disclosed.

Biscat is developing an autonomous operation platform that can integrate and manage robots and equipment from different manufacturers within manufacturing and logistics settings. Currently, industrial sites are teeming with robots of various specifications and brands, yet the software for integrated control and management is inadequate. This has led to recurring issues, such as the need to rewrite control codes every time a process is changed, resulting in reduced operational efficiency.

To improve these limitations, the company is building an autonomous operating system centered around 'STAR-Core' and 'STAR-Grapher'.

StarCore is a universal motion planning and driving engine that can be applied regardless of a robot's drive structure or motor specifications. Previously, driving software had to be developed separately when robot hardware changed, but the company explained that this technology allows for implementation in a relatively short period of time.

Stargrapher is an orchestration engine that performs work instructions, execution, and response to exceptional situations based on an ontology-based knowledge system that links facilities, robots, and process constraints into semantic units.

Lee Seong-ho, a senior analyst at Bluepoint Partners, noted that there is still no clear global-level operator that can integrate and operate heterogeneous robots, and evaluated the company's growth potential in terms of market environment, technology strategy, and team capabilities.

Ko Dong-wook, CEO of Biscat, said that while the level of automation is increasing, the intelligence to operate different robots and facilities in an integrated manner still largely relies on field experience, and that he plans to use this investment as an opportunity to accelerate the commercialization of systems that can make decisions and operate autonomously in various industrial environments.

Meanwhile, in the manufacturing and logistics automation market, technological competition surrounding the integrated management of heterogeneous robots and the advancement of operational software is intensifying.
